Starbucks to stop selling hot breakfast sandwiches
Starbucks recently announced that they are going to stop selling hot breakfast sandwiches in the fall of 2008. Apparently, the smell of cheese, bacon, and eggs is driving coffee drinking customers away. Howard D. Schultz, the company’s chairman and chief executive said,
In short, the scent of the warm sandwiches interferes with the coffee aroma in our stores
In general, Starbucks has fallen in to some hard times having difficulties improving profits and this is one of many more moves to come in an effort to improve the situation and bring customers back.
If you ask me their sandwiches were actually overpriced; I never understood why anybody would waster their money on a Starbucks breakfast sandwich when the same store was selling a large variety of cheaper and tastier baked goods. I know I won’t miss their warm breakfast sandwiches. Will you?
